Accomplishments for 2009

  • NEEC-CT members spoke about NEEC-CT at the Small Business Contractors
    Kickoff Meeting at CL&P
  • NEEC-CT was instrumental in convincing the Legislators not to support the Governor’s move to take funds from the Connecticut Energy Efficiency Funds in three deficit mitigation packages. 
  • NEEC-CT convinced the Legislature not to cut the CEEF in the budget they presented in April. 
  • NEEC-CT was invited to participate in a press conference Speaker Donovan held that supported the CEEF.
  • NEEC-CT met with the President of the Senate, the Speaker of the House, the Chairs of the Energy & Technology, the Environment, Commerce Committees, and various other legislators and DPUC officials.
  • NEEC-CT Increased membership over the prior year.
  • NEEC-CT members testified in front of various legislative public hearings- Energy & Technology Committee, Finance Committee, Appropriations Committee, and the Program Review Committee.
  • Participated in a Press Conference with various groups interested in the CEEF, Attorney General Richard Blumenthal, and Mayor Scott Slifka.
  • NEEC-CT organized a news piece on the CEEF that spotlighted a member using CEEF Funds at a small business.  The piece ran on Channel 8.
  • NEEC-CT’s lobbyist met with the Governor’s Office to talk about the Federal Stimulus Funds.
  • NEEC-CT continues to monitor and watch the breakdown of the Federal Stimulus Funds.
  • NEEC-CT participated in the Energy Forum organized by the Speaker of the House.
  • NEEC-CT’s lobbyist meets weekly with other lobbyists interested in the CEEF.
  • NEEC-CT has weekly conference calls to update members on the issues and progress at the Capitol.
  • Provided guest speakers at a few NEEC-CT Meetings.
  • NEEC-CT has a daily presence at the Capitol through Guinan Associates.
  • NEEC-CT’s work kept the Fund providing an annual savings of 19 million gallons of oil not burned, or 146,000 tons of coal not burned, or $32 million saved in electric energy costs.
